Rochester, NH Elks #1393 Hosts "Build Day" for Sleep in Heavenly Peace

On Saturday, September 7th, 2024, the Rochester Elks hosted a “Sleep in Heavenly Peace Build Day”.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a nationwide volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to building and delivering hand-made, fully furnished beds to children in need. SHP’s mission is to provide free beds to children who don’t have one. SHP estimates that nearly 3% of the children that make up the US population do not have their own real bed.

This was a fantastic day with 7 Rochester Elk members and 30 additional volunteers helping with the setup, manufacture, and cleanup of the bed manufacturing process. The work was conducted in the Elks parking lot located at 295 Columbus Avenue in Rochester. Volunteers built 30 twin size bed kits for children in the Lilac City community that currently don’t have one.  Beds were built from scratch with materials and instruction provided by the Sleep in Heavenly peace representatives.
