On the second day of the Grand Lodge Session, delegates passed 18 and rejected three resolutions to amend the Statutes and Constitution of the Order during the legislative session.
The leadership of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held the first business session of the 159th Grand Lodge Session and elected Douglas A. Schiefer, of Bucyrus, OH Lodge No. 156, as Grand Exalted Ruler for the 2024–2025 year.
Thousands of Elks and guests from all 50 states attended the Opening Ceremony of the 159th Grand Lodge Session, where they learned of the past year’s successes by the Elks National Drug Awareness Program, the Elks National Veterans Service Commission, and the Elks National Foundation. The evening’s highlight was a presentation by Grand Exalted Ruler Randy P. Shook, who congratulated the assembled Elks for spreading the word during the past year that “We Are THE Elks.”
Texas is welcoming the annual Elks National Convention—yet again. The Elks are in Austin this week, the fifth time visiting Texas in 24 years. The convention was held in San Antonio in 2018, Houston in 2016, Austin again in 2012, and Dallas in 2000.
