Matthew Ramos 2013 Most Valuable Student Scholar Sponsored by Carmichael, Calif., Lodge No. 2103
On December 22, Elks scholar Matthew Ramos volunteered with the Carmichael Lodge. Together, thanks to a Community Investments Program Gratitude Grant, they prepared and distributed more than 125 boxes of food to feed more than 600 people. Each box also included kids’ toys and games. Matthew looks forward to volunteering with the Lodge in the future.
“While in San Luis Obispo, I have connected with the Elks scholars on campus, helped the local Lodge with its haunted house for Halloween, and assisted with the college night held at the Lodge,” says Matthew. “It has been really nice to have the opportunity to provide service to others, especially while establishing myself in my new surroundings.”
