Linda Averill
Everett, WA Lodge No. 479
As Washington state MVS chair and ENF chair for her Lodge, Linda Averill holds the scholarship program close to her heart. With more than 18 years experience educating high school students, this recently retired teacher and librarian first joined the Order to take part in the youth activities her local Lodge provided. Once a member, Averill saw how much the ENF impacted her community. I like the fact that the ENF doesnt just help any one group of people, for example only scholarships or veterans, she says. It helps everyone.

Linda is doing her part as chair by holding fundraisers. For ENF month, the Everett Lodge created an 18-hole miniature golf course with a spaghetti dinner afterward. They awarded the best scores with monetary prizes and the worst with what they call the traveling trophy, a bent putter adorned with items such as a horn and flashlight. Each year, the putter is passed along to the next worst scorer, making it a fun tradition for the Lodge to enjoy. I think everyone that attended had a great time, Averill says.
