Amy Bykkonen
Calumet, MI, Lodge No. 404
When Amy boasts about the ENF’s scholarship programs, take her word for it. It wasn’t long ago that she was struggling to afford college, so she knows firsthand the pressures many scholarship recipients face. That’s why she gladly serves as her Lodge’s ENF and Most Valuable Student scholarship chair.

“The scholarships I received helped ease my burden tremendously,” she says. “I only wish I knew about the Elks scholarships then.” Amy remains determined to inform the students in her community about ENF’s scholarship opportunities. She knows that by working hard to collect donations, she’s providing essential support for the students.

Amy approaches fundraising in a variety of ways. During meetings she’ll challenge the Lodge officers to donate $10 and she’ll match dollar for dollar. She also holds special event fundraisers and attends Indoctrination to ask new members to give. “I try to inform our members of what the ENF is all about,” Amy says. “It’s a great charity that helps many groups of people.”

Amy’s devices are working. In her first year as chair, her Lodge has already exceeded the GER’s per-capita goal. “It’s something we have not been able to do for some time,” she says. “It’s a great accomplishment.”
