Congratulations to our 2022 Mad River Friends of Education! Mad River Local Schools Friends of Education began in 2006. Since then, 26 individuals or groups have been honored for their contribution to Mad River Local Schools and our community. On Monday evening 24 October 2022, the district honored three groups who have made a tremendous impact on both our students and community. Dayton Elks Lodge 58: The Elks organization believes in building stronger communities together. They are dedicated to our nation’s youth offering scholarships and education programs to kids of all ages. In addition, the Elks are very supportive of our nation’s veterans. In 2014, Dayton Elks Lodge 58’s Exalted Ruler, Mr. Kevin Malloy reached out to the Mad River Local Schools with a project where they provided dictionaries to every 3rd-grade student in the district. Since then, the Dayton Elks have supplied over 6,000 dictionaries to our students in the district. The first group who received a dictionary are now juniors in high school! In 2017, the Dayton Elks began partnering with the school district on food boxes for families in need at Brantwood and Beverly Gardens during Christmas. Each year since then, the Elks have provided 25 food boxes to each building annually. The Dayton Elks also sponsors an annual Hoops Shoot and Soccer Shoot for our school-age students. It is evident that the Dayton Elks Lodge 58 is dedicated to the youth in Mad River Local Schools.
