Marion Lodge 32 was chartered in 1885 as the first small community Elks Lodge in America. Eight years later, the man who would become the 29th President of the United States, Warren G. Harding, was elected Esteemed Loyal Knight. Marion 32 is steeped in history. They were the first Lodge to hold an annual circus and parade, earning the nickname “the original circus lodge.” Later, in 1913, the Lodge purchased the Grand Opera House and built the Elks Temple that the organization still occupies today. It was then that Marion 32 became known as “The Minstrel Lodge” because of the many vaudeville style shows it sponsored. Today, Marion 32 boasts a dining area that will take you back to the twenties, and a Lodge room that retains its entire original splendor. If Elks history is an interest, Marion 32 should be your destination.
