MARION, Ohio (November 12, 2003) – On behalf of the 550 members of the local Marion Elks Lodge No. 32, a check for $1,427.01 was presented to the Marion City Fire Department. In august the Lodge received their new Type III Charitable Bingo License, allowing the local fraternal organization to conduct charitable instant bingo games such as “pull tabs” to raise money for several local charities. The Marion Elks are authorized to sell instant bingo tickets to members and guests, with 50% of all proceeds going to charities as specified by the Marion Elks.According to Chief Gruber of the Department, cardiovascular problems are the number one killer of fire fighters in America today. So, the Marion City Fire Department plans to invest their donation in new cardiovascular equipment. The donation check was presented by Ken Leser, a member of the Elks and also a Marion City Fire Fighter.In addition to the fire department the Marion Elks have also made donations to the Marion General Hospital Quality of Life Hospice, Marion City Police ASAP Drug Rehab Program, Ohio Elks Cerebral Palsy Charities, Elks national Foundation Scholarship Programs and the Marion Community Foundation.
