It took some time, but thousands of sweet treats, toys galore and about 12,600 candy filled plastic eggs were laid out on the grass of the mansion grounds for the 2019 Easter Egg Hunt. Thanks to Riggs High School students in Mrs. Ulmen's class for helping Elks Lodge members to get the eggs ready for the big day!
Before the 2019 Elks Easter Egg Hunt began at 1:00 pm, families lined the grounds waiting for Lt. Governor Larry Rhoden to give the official "countdown" to start the event.
Like the previous 65 Easter Egg Hunts, the 2019 event attendance was great!

Pierre Elks Exalted Ruler Jonathon Ward accepted an award at the 2019 workshop for contributions made by lodge members for the Elks National Foundation. Lodge #1953 gave $47.32 per member.

The Pierre Elks Lodge #1953 held the annual Kite Day in Hilgers Gulch on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Once again, it was a great turnout..as children from the Pierre/Fort Pierre area enjoyed the sunny afternoon flying their new kites.
Wednesday, June 12, 2019 brought both the annual Kite Day and the Elks Flag Day presentation to the Lodge #1953 calendar. Elks members participated in the Flag Day event as part of the Capital City Band concert at Steamboat Park. Shown here prior to the presentation are ER Jonathan Ward and PER's Ryan Brunner, Marc Ulmen and Matt Schatz.
PER Dwight Pogany was the narrator at the 2019 Elks Flag Day event and told the history of each of the flags as they were presented.
Thanks to Greg Hall and Doug Runge who demonstrated the folding of the flag at the conclusion of the 2019 Flag Day presentation.
Pierre Elks Lodge 1953 organized a costume giveaway on September 18, 2019. Elks members on hand who helped to set up the event included (clockwise from front) Sheila Shaffer, Sue Douglas, Ryan Brunner, Steve Wegman, Jeff Hallem and Marc Ulmen.
From Halloween costumes to make-up, decorations and other prizes; there were tons of items available for giveaway to area youth at the September 2019 gathering.
Old Timers Night was held October 2, 2019. The evening included a social, dinner and program.
Attendees at the 2019 Old Timers Night enjoyed a tasty supper. Thanks to Lorie Pogany and other volunteers for organizing the event and making it a great success.
Current lodge members and those Elks members who have maintained their membership for 25 years or more attended the 2019 Old Timers Night.
