CHS donated to the Elks Lodge Stocking Stuffer Program again in 2018. They gave 10 bags of birdseed to feed feathered friends at the federal and state veterans facilities in Hot Springs.
December 17, 2018 brought "delivery day". All the donations gathered by Elks Lodge 1953 were brought to the federal veterans facility and to the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home. The Pierre Elks Lodge, with the help of the City of Pierre, SD Game, Fish and Parks Department and various volunteers, held a youth ice fishing event on Mickelson Pond on February 15, 2019.
Local kids taking part in the 2019 Youth Ice Fishing event enjoyed fishing, snacks and hot cocoa.
Most of the young participants caught a fish too!

During the awards portion of the 2019 Installation and Awards Banquet on April 3, Lodge members Steve Wegman and Jerry Wattier were each honored as recipients of the "Spark Plug Award". Wegman (center) and Wattier (right) are shown here with PER Matt Schatz.
Named "Elk of the Year" at the 2019 ceremony was Marc Ulmen (right).
Heather Perry was the recipient of the "Officer of the Year" award at the 2019 award ceremony.
Kay Livermont of the local Flag Mountain Honor Guard-which is part of South Dakota's Quilts of Valor Foundation-was presented with the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award. Members of the Quilts of Valor Foundation create hand made quilts of comfort and healing for veterans. Livermont says 214,000 quilts have been given out nationwide since the program started and there are 40 quilters who are part of the Quilts of Valor program in SD.
Pierre Elks Lodge Secretary Audry Ricketts was given the "Golden Elks Award" for her outstanding service to the Lodge at the 2019 ceremony.

Steve Wegman of the Pierre Elks Lodge brought a special visitor to the Governor's Office April 16, 2019--a few days before the 66th Annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt was held on the lawn of the Governor's Residence in Pierre.

Members and friends of Pierre Elks Lodge #1953 worked on Easter morning 2019 to get ready for the 66th annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt. It took some time to distribute the prizes, candy and eggs so the Governors Residence grounds were ready for the hundreds of kids that would be attending the event.
