Elks Feeding Empty Little Tummies (EFELT)… In Manatee County, there are over 2,300 homeless children ages 5 to 12, living in shelters, motels and the backs of cars. While these kids are eligible to receive reduced cost or free breakfast/lunch at school, many do not have food over the weekend and therefore go hungry. EFELT is a community project of Elks providing weekend meals to children are homeless or living in food-deprived homes. EFELT’s objective is to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry or faces a weekend without any food.
