Woodbridge, VA 2355

The Beginning of Lodge #2355

On June 25, 1966 Woodbridge Elks Lodge was formally established and chartered with 92 members. Since there was no lodge building at this time, monthly meetings were held at the Woodbridge Moose Lodge 583 in Lorton from June 1966 until February 1973. In July 1968 six acres of wooded land was purchased on Smoketown Road across from what is now Gar-Field High School. In December 1970, an additional four acres were acquired.

The building on Smoketown Road was completed in 1973 and became home of the Woodbridge Elks. Due to tremendous growth throughout Prince William County, the lodge property was sold in 1986 in order to obtain a piece of property and build a new building. During the period of 1986 to 1991, meetings were held at the American Legion Post 28 in Dumfries. The present lodge on Minnieville Road was dedicated in October 1991.

The lodge is actively engaged in supporting and contributing to the the needs of the Prince William County community. Some of our programs include: assisting homeless Veterans, Drug Awareness, Safety Glasses, Hoop Shoot, sponsoring boys and girls to attend the Virginia Elks Youth Camp located in Millboro, VA, supporting Boy Scout Troop 1390, sponsoring JROTC awards and scholarships for high school students, Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner, and being an original sponsor of the Dale City 4th of July Parade.
