Elks Scholar Service Trips are back! From August 4-7, 2021, 10 Elks' Scholars came and served in the name of the Elk's in Santa Monica, California.
Scholars stayed at the HI Los Angeles Santa Monica Hostel right across the street from the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. The scholars served with various community organizations, such as Safe Place for Youth and Harvest Home. When not volunteering, the scholars got to enjoy the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Boardwalk, and 3rd Street Promenade. At night, scholars got to visit nearby Elks Lodges, where they enjoyed an Elks scholar Olympian competition at Santa Monica, Calif., Lodge No. 906, karaoke at Redondo Beach, Calif., Lodge No. 1378, and brunch at Culver City, Calif., Lodge No. 1917. Westchester, Calif., Lodge No. 2050 even stopped by one of our service sites to drop off lunch and homemade cookies! Each night, the day ended with meaningful programming and reflection. At the end of the trip, some scholars remained together and explored Hollywood.
To stay safe, all scholars were required to submit either a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arrival or show proof of vaccination.
